Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression can affect people in different ways. Anxiety and depression therapy in Belgium can help you understand what you are experiencing and why. Sometimes you know exactly what is wrong. At other times, you simply know that you don’t feel like yourself and can’t seem to get back to where you were.

You may find yourself worrying constantly, feeling low, or losing interest in things you normally enjoy. You may have difficulty sleeping or concentrating, feel that you don’t want to see anyone, or find that ordinary things are becoming harder to manage.

Sometimes anxiety or depression is connected to what is happening in your life. At other times, it can seem to appear without an obvious reason. Either way, it can be difficult to understand why you feel the way you do or what you can do to change it.

In therapy, we take a close look at what you are experiencing, but also at what may be contributing to it. Understanding the patterns behind anxiety or depression can help you see your situation differently and make changes that are difficult to recognise when you are in the middle of it.

I will listen carefully, but I will also ask you questions and challenge you when I think it may help. We will look at what is within your control, what may need to change, and what practical steps might make things easier to manage.

The aim is to help you overcome your anxiety or depression, understand what contributed to it, and make changes that reduce the likelihood of the same difficulties returning.

What Can Bring You to Therapy?

You may be struggling with constant worry, low mood, mood swings, or a loss of interest in things you normally enjoy. You may feel overwhelmed, have difficulty concentrating or sleeping, or find everyday life becoming harder to manage.

You may also be dealing with circumstances that contribute to how you feel, such as a difficult relationship, a major life change, loneliness, problems with self-confidence or self-worth, or a situation you have been trying to manage on your own.

You don’t have to know exactly what is causing the problem before you come to therapy. Sometimes you need more than someone to listen. You need to step outside the situation, look at what is really happening from different viewpoints, and understand what is driving it.

How Anxiety and Depression Therapy Can Help

My approach to anxiety and depression therapy in Belgium is to understand what you are experiencing, but also what may be behind it. We look at what has been happening in your life, how you have been responding to it, and whether there are patterns contributing to how you feel.

Understanding what is happening can be an important part of the process. It can help you see why you have been feeling or responding as you do, and what may need to change. We can then look at practical ways to make those changes.

I will listen carefully, but I will also ask questions and challenge you when I think it will help. Where appropriate, we may use practical tools and exercises, particularly when there are things you can do between sessions to help you manage what you are experiencing.

The aim is to help you understand your difficulties, work towards overcoming them, and make changes that support your longer-term wellbeing.
